I finally made it to Rosslare. I left my parents' place in Donnybrook at about 1pm. I had to make a side trip to Sandyford to buy some rechargeable batteries and a new charger, so I didn't get on the road proper until about 1.45. Traffic was a female dog. Glen of the Downs was supposed to have been finished months ago but now won't be complete until October. There was a botttleneck at the beginning of the roadworks area but once past that the traffic flowed smoothly.

Not so on the approach to Ashford. Traffic is now being shunted onto the new N11 which is still under construction and not due to be completed for another year or so. The segment we were shunted onto does not bypass Ashford, rather it runs into it. As a result traffic crawled along for several kilometres.

Compared to that, Gorey, which my father always complains about, was a doddle!

Anyway, I'm here now. The sun is shining and I'm ready to relax. Let the seven days and seven nights of indolence begin.

Right. That's it. I'm off. For the next seven days I shall be safely ensconsed in Kelly's Resort Hotel in Rosslare where, all being well, I can relax in the sun and catch up on my reading. I've been looking foward to this holiday since I booked it last August and it's come around not a moment too soon.

Of course, I shall probably end up doing some work anyway. I may even do some blogging if I can get the Bluetooth connection between my Powerbook and phone to work properly so I can access the GPRS network.
