With Macworld San Francisco only a fortnight away the rumours of what Apple CEO Steve Jobs will announce during his keynote are coming thick and fast. The favourite at the moment is Mini iPods. Unlike the current iPod range these will come with much smaller hard drive capacities. Think in the order of 1, 2 or 4 GB and will have price points to match.

Next on the list of anticipated announcement is a revamp of iLife. iLife is the combined name for iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie and iDVD. iPhoto users in the US have been able to order prints and a high quality book of their photos directly through iPhoto since day one while we in Europe have had to wait. When questioned about this at Apple Expo in September, Jobs said he expected to have news on those 'within six months.'

I don't expect a European iTunes store for a while yet though. More than likely there will be upgrades to iMove and iDVD.

Mark Frauenfelder, back from his Island-living adventure in the Pacific, notes this disturbing development in the US.

In addition to cutting out scenes of gay events held at National Parks, the US Park service is also selling books that "prove" the Grand Canyon is only a few thousand years old.

This fall, the Park Service also approved a creationist text, 'Grand Canyon: A Different View' for sale in park bookstores and museums. The book by Tom Vail, claims that the Grand Canyon is really only a few thousand years old, developing on a biblical rather than an evolutionary time scale. At the same time, Park Service leadership has blocked publication of guidance for park rangers and other interpretative staff that labeled creationism as lacking any scientific basis."

Here's a quote from the book: "... in the creationist's view, the carving of the Canyon would have taken place when the sedimentary layers were still soft, allowing the catastrophic erosion process to quickly and easily cut through the layers."

From Amazon.com: "Author Tom Vail and his wife are the founders of Canyon Ministries, which offers Christ-centered voyages through the canyon."

I'm currently using Netnewswire as an Aggregator. The main reason is because Typepad doesn't have a built-in new aggregator. However, Netnewswire can interface with various blogging APIs which is handy if you want to post the same article to more than one blog. So far I've been able to mirror most of my Typepad posts to Radio Userland. I say most because Radio Userland has started misbehaving and crashing without warning.

SpaceShipOne, one of the candidates for the X Prize, about which I have blogged previously, broke the sound barrier on December 17. However, upon landing, the landing gear retracted causing the craft to career off the runway. Fortunately the pilot was unhurt and damage was minor. [SPACE.com]
