I called an old friend(?) tonight and got his girlfriend on the phone instead. She picked up his cell phone which surprised me for two reasons (1)usually I get voicemail and I've only called 3 times in the past few months..so I thought I'd give it one more try to make contact and (2) why was she answering his cell phone? I was in the neighborhood (had just left a bar close by where I had met my recruiter finally - she picked the place..I didn't suggest it) and thought hey, maybe he might answer the phone and we could meet for a beer, I had an hour to kill, plus I was starving, couldn't remember where the chinese restaurant was that he took me too thought I'd call and ask (I found it by the way..after driving around in circles for about half an hour - great little place called Alice's).
Apparently him and his girlfriend are living together..which is great for them. I'm happy that he is happy and found someone that he's truly in-love with. Now I know they are together and have been for the last 6 months or so but what amused me about the conversation was her first statement to me when she answered the phone, "Julie, you know we are together!" Geez, like I'm stupid or something. That statement was just begging for a blog post :) I'm not trying to sound bitchy or anything here..it was incredibly amusing to me. I know they are together!! And I'm dating someone, just thought we were going to try and be friends..I guess its a dead issue at this point.
I know it might seem strange that I would still want to be friends with an ex-lover and possibly his girlfriend but she sounded nice and sweet, and one of my exs and his wife are two of my greatest friends. Another one of my ex-boyfriends was my best friend til he died. I guess I just want the same with this ex-lover...and I guess it wasn't meant to be. I thought we have alot in common but everything happens for a reason.
....which is what I was trying to tell his girlfriend when she hung up on me. I mean really if you answered his cell phone, you must have either wanted to talk to me or really need to tell me that you were together? just an fyi..i don't want your boyfriend..he is all yours. I'm dating someone.
....by the way, if you pick up your boyfriend's cell phone, be prepared that the other person on the line might just be incredibly amused or caught off guard that a live person actually answered the phone.
....Oh and next time someone is talking to you, don't hang up the phone...it might have been something worth hearing..instead of the whole conversation being posted here!
