Another day in Paradise
Steve Sloan's weblog. A bit tech, a bit bikes, a bit family, a bit friends, a bit yoga, a bit photo, a bit trains, and a bit fun. Eight bits; that's a byte!

Jeanne Meadows Memorial Ride
I remember the first time I rode my bicycle to the top of Mt Hamilton.

Bicyclists at the top of Mount Hamilton

At the top of the mountain, overlooking the Santa Clara Valley, is a steel and concrete bench deadicated to a now passed on ACTC member Jeanne Meadows.

Ten years ago, on July 3, 1993, ACTC riders rode to the top of Mt. Hamilton and dedicated the bench at the top in the memory of Jeanne Meadows. This bench and the memory of Jeanne has been an inspiration to both those who knew Jeanne and those who have followed after her. Many of us who rode to the top of the mountain for the first time felt as though we had done something that would have seemed impossible for us just a short time before. On the top of the mountain we found the bench and read on its dedication plaque the inspiring words of Jeanne. Now the bench needs a coat of paint. Tomorrow many of us are riding to the top to repaint the bench and celebrate the life and words of Jeanne and the wonderful things she, and we, have been able to achieve on our bicycles.

Sue and I have organized and are leading the ride.
