Sitcom Chic: Notes from a late adopter

Behind the curve: OK, I'm only a year behind everyone else in making Bonne Marie's kicky cardie Sitcom Chic (see Knitty Spring 2003). I'm knitting it in this funky, many-polyesters-died-for-it ribbon called Bandolero Color by Schachenmayer that I picked up for a song from Elann. My antediluvian digital camera doesn't do the color justice (the color is 88, FYI, and creates a kind of purple, mossy green, brown lichen effect).
Given the clever way Bonne constructs her patterns with minimal finishing, this baby is a bit of a haul. The two fronts and back are knit all in one piece up to the arm pits (don't you hate that phrase, arm pit?). Then the sleeves are knit in the round and knit into the main body of the piece. (I'm taking it on faith that this works out.) Makes for long, exhausting rows, but I think I'll be one happy gal when it comes time to finish this puppy. Anyway, the pattern's free (thank you Knitty and Bonne!) and makes for a cute little spring cover up. I'm determined to knit pieces I can actually wear in season. Help me be strong, I'm trying to stay away from wool!
