Araucania Nature Wool color 17
Peer pressure: So I cast on for the Must-Have Cardie Knit-a-Long (sponsored by Kate and Theresa). I was trying to resist, but heeded the siren call of a bag of Araucania wool I found in the back room at the Lamb. The colors of this stuff are amazing (there's a sea foam to die for!) with enough varigation to give the piece a lot of life. Love it, love it.
The Paton's Must-Have pattern is a kick too, once you get it established. Saturday, when I cast on, we were watching a tape of the new Dr. Zhivago that aired on Masterpiece Theatre. (Just so you know, I minored in Russian language because of Omar Sharif.) The remake is quite wonderful, though it did make for distracting viewing while I tried to establish Must-Have's pattern. My big complaints: Hans Matheson is bit too "beta" for Zhivago. I kept wanting him to go for testosterone shots. But because the film is so good, it warrants mindless knitting as opposed to a project where you have to peek.
Bush in 30 seconds: Denver boy Charlie Fisher's ad won Move-on.org's contest for telling the "truth" about George Bush. Moveon.org will be airing the ad to coincide with the President's State of the Union address.
