1395 kHz will be daytime only
Those of you who managed to catch Radio 10 FM testing on 1395 kHz yesterday evening had a rare catch - because according to their Web site their schedule on that frequency is to be 0400-1800 UTC. So fans of Trans World Radio need not fear the heterodyne :-)
Some listeners have noted that the audio quality on 1395 kHz is not as good as it was on 675 kHz. On 675 they used a digital audio processor that boosted the higher frequencies. This is clearly not the case, currently at least, on 1395 kHz. It's this sort of processor that Radio 538 is waiting to have installed at Hulsberg before it starts using 891 kHz.
It's interesting to note that the Radio 10 Web site says "various media, including de Telegraaf, report that the negotiations with Sky Radio have meanwhile ended." What this tells me is that the staff at Radio 10 have not had any official information from their employers, Talpa Radio, nor has Talpa Radio issued a press release of its own. If I were an employee of an organisation and learned of its fate via the newspapers, I wouldn't be terribly happy.
