It's all happening...

At least, it will be tomorrow. We're expecting the McKinsey report into efficiency in Dutch public broadcasting to be officially released. Then, and only then, when the report is in the public domain, will Radio Netherlands officially respond.

Also tomorrow, Radio 10 FM goes to court to claim its right to be awarded a terrestrial FM licence. The staff at Radio 10 have been buoyed by the listening figures for April/May, which shows the biggest rise in market share of all national stations, public and commercial - from 6.6 to 7.1%. The station puts that down to the arrival of legendary DJ's Bert van Leeuwen and Ferry Maat at the beginning of May. Radio 10 FM is now the third most popular commercial station in The Netherlands - yet its licence wasn't renewed. What will happen tomorrow is anybody's guess. I wouldn't be surprised to see the case ajourned until the autumn, in which case you can also expect that they will prolong their use of 1395 kHz.

Check our Media Newsdesk page and/or this Weblog tomorrow for the latest on these breaking stories.
