Lost Dogs
We were putting up new screens for the windows when 2 dogs came into the break
between the hedges and the picket fences. A Shitsu and a Peckinese! Dot and
I were surprised- did her aunt get 2 new dogs? My first instinct was to look
at the dog tags. I got the shitsu to come up to me and I browsed her neck to
peek at the tags. I got a number for an animal shelter where the owner got the
dog from. Unfortunately, they were of no help eventhough the tag said: "If
lost call 212-***-****. The attendant that I spoke too told me that I would
have to hold on to the dogs for 48 hours until they could locate the
information about the owners. 48 Hours?!!
Dot calls up her Aunt May and she told us to call the vet's number which was
also on the dog tag. We called them and they got back to us within 20
minutes. Turns out the dogs were from our neighbors on the other corner of
our street. We brought the dogs back to the neighbors and the little girl
especially was relieved that we found the little 'buggers'.
There are lessons learned here:
Make sure your dog's tags are up-to-date.
Also find a service that keeps your dogs info and yours in the event that your
furry friend is lost.
And finally, never let your dogs out of your sight especially if they will be
in the yard and stuff...
