Hurl boulders!

Must be some kind of writer's/idea block, or no thought seems to want to be fleshed out or built upon.

Yesterday it was 68 degrees and partly sunny here.  Today, 40 degrees and windy.  Yuck.

I beginning to think that I should've been an English major.  Well, I've been thinking this for a bit now, of course it's too late to go back and change so I might as well make the most of it.  If you think about it, one can probably learn most of the necessities of journalism without going through a journalism program; what you don't get as much treatment there is in the writing department.

I picked up the AP Reporting Handbook (overall, a bit of a disappointment since it's mostly anecdotes from AP folks, but it's somewhat useful) and the author wrote something to the effect that good reporting can be learned, good writing is mostly natural.  (Not sure if I buy the second part or not, but I'll agree on the first point.)

The foundation for any good bit of journalism is in the reporting, of course.  Not many writers can spin a silk purse out of a sow's ear.  I think I underestimated how much I had to learn in that department.

People read this?  That's pretty flattering.  On to better days (I hope).
