Writing, working, open source

Things have been on the wild 'n crazy side this week. I have been wildly un-busy at my current day job, waiting for slow-arriving information from developers both local and on the left coast.  This has left me a disgusting amount of time getting reacquainted with the blogosphere. Now I'm learning a lot, and finding some terrific spots (not the least of which being the Big Thinkers at worldchanging.com), but I wish I could drop the nagging feeling that this long-term, perhaps permanent assignment was really only going to last a month.

Meanwhile, with the end of the year coming, I've had a half-billion personal tasks to cram into the non-work portion of the day. I have two papers to write for my suburban history class (and yes, I'm still planning to write about that one of these days), one (short) due this Monday based on the half-book I've yet to finish and one (long) due the 15th which doubles as the final exam. My publisher-to-be has asked for a proposal by Monday, as well; so I finished a draft of same which I sent to my agent this evening. I've had memberships to renew, credit card bills to pay and a union election to vote in. We celebrated my son-in-law's 40th birthday Monday (through a quirk of nature and choices, I'm only 4.5 years older than my son-in-law). I'm still looking for a decent apartment (OK, so maybe my wife is doing most of that)--oh and there's that holiday coming around the solstice. Happy Happy, Joy Joy!!

So, of course, this is the week I pick to revive NftM!
