As many of you know by now, one of the most soulful people to ever grace the planet left us Thursday. Ray Charles' liver gave out and the rest of us must go on without him. Here I go stereotyping again, but if most bloggers only remember him for that Pepsi ad ("You got the right one, baby"), it's time to fire up the file-sharing tool of choice and find some of the real stuff.

Is it just me, or is it still amazing that this Reuters story appeared in my browser less than two hours after his passing? His agent was clearly ready with the sad news. As I type this, there are  569 articles/obituaries listed at Google News. Probably not the number that appeared last Sunday for another prominent Republican's demise, but not shabby either.

May you rest in peace, Ray, and don't forget to say Hi to Flip Wilson if you run into him.
