Looks like SBC Communications will be the next RBOC (after Verizon) to make a move into WiFi hot spots; Barnes and Noble will soon be rolling out WiFi in more than 20 stores in Atlanta and Seattle (playing catch-up with Borders?).

This article in Unstrung contains some interesting statistics on the number and types of WiFi hot spots that are currently available, or are projected to be available through 2005.

This Economist article advocates commercial WiFi hot spots lower their prices to increase their customer base. I find T-Mobile's current pre-pay prices to be pretty reasonable, but lowering them would definitely increase my usage.
