Got My Treo!

Yesterday I received my Treo 300 right on schedule. After 2 hours charging it was ready to activate. Activation with SprintPCS seems to have been vastly improved recently as it was completely automated and I didn't have to enter a thing into my Treo.

First impressions: great phone! I really do like the speed dialer and and tight integration between the Contacts application and phone functionality. One-handed calling is a breeze. The screen is certainly not what I'm used to with my Toshiba e740, but it's quite readable. It was good enough to do some ebook reading this morning (Cryptonomicon). It is a little hard to read in direct sunlight, though.

The Sprint PCS Vision data network works great. Retrieving email is quite speedy. Blazer is an OK browser for small screen-formatted Web sites.

I've now stopped syncing Outlook with my e740 as the Treo is going to be my main PIM system. The e740 still plays my Audible books on the way to work and serves as my email and Web surfing tool each morning using our home WiFi network. It has also turned into a laptop replacement for business travel as well as a multimedia machine.
