Smartphone Thoughts has an article, On the Road, On the Go: What's Your Killer App?, that talks about one-handed email retrieval as a killer application for Microsoft Smartphones. This really applies to most Palm OS-based and Pocket PC Phone Edition phones as well. In fact, it's probably even more effective if you have a device with a keyboard.
