Networks dampen Foxtel's iQ debut

Tomorrow I get my Foxtel iQ installed. The real disappointment is the fact that two of the free to air networks will be missing from the electronic program guide. I found the following article which discusses this issue - Networks dampen Foxtel's iQ debut.

The article quotes spokespeople from the two networks and it shows how they *really* value their viewers..

While Seven and Ten admit the impasse is damaging, there are no signs of progress in their negotiations with Foxtel, which have been going on for more than a year.

The Seven Network's Simon Francis said there were several sticking points and Seven's position on the electronic program guide, the use of the personal digital recorder and copyright were just some of them.

"Seven is concerned about where they would sit on the Foxtel platform and where our additional channels would sit," he said. "We can understand the frustration of viewers and that is a critical factor for us in negotiations."

Said Network Ten's Margaret Fearn: "We want to get it right because the deal will remain in force forever. Ten wants to be on the first page of the EPG and we won't be disadvantaged in any way."
