OK, gang. Here's a trivia question for you: Where is the Alberta
visitors welcome center located? And how about the Saskatchewan
visitors welcome center?
Here's an excerpt from Dick Tracy's latest blog post that answers that riddle:
The border between
Saskatchewan and Alberta runs directly through the middle of the city of
Loydminster down the main north/south street. I[base ']m sure this unusual arrangement
must cause some interesting issues on taxes, jurisdiction and politics. Also
interestingly the Alberta Visitors Welcome center is located in Saskatchewan
and the Saskatchewan Visitors Center is located in Alberta. A most unusual
arrangement.

The Aldo Leopold Foundation has invited me to speak in the Shack Seminar Series, held at the
Leopold Shack on the Wisconsin River near Baraboo. I'll be there next
Monday evening, July 25. I'm working on my talk now. The announced topic,
"Bringing Leopold's Message to a Diverse Audience," was suggested by
Aldo Leopold Foundation Development Coordinator, Rick Stel. Rick
thought it would be interesting to hear how I have used Aldo Leopold's
land ethic and other ideas in the courses I used to teach at Northland College and in the production of Outdoor Wisconsin, my weekly TV show.
If you are interested in attending or want more information, log onto the Aldo Leopold Foundation website, or call ALF at 608-355-0279 and ask for Jennifer.
Hope to see a few familiar faces there!
