My muskie outing with Lee Kernen last Monday was, unfortunately, pretty uneventful.  Lee and I beat Lake Wingra to a proverbial froth four four hours, throwing everything we had and doing some trolling, to boot.  The best we could muster was one follow about halfway through the morning.

What was most notable was thefact that I had just changed baits whtn the fish hit.  I had been throwing a Mudpuppy and a bright Mepps Muskie Marabou, but decided to switch to a black and white Mepps Muskie Marabou.  On my first cast with the new bait, a mid-30s fish followed it to the boat, then disappeared.

Less tossed out a marker buoy and we backed off to rest the fish.  My videographer, Michael Garvin, saw two big swirls near the marker, but repeated visits to the area failed to roust a fish.  We finally picked up the buoy at about noon and trolled back to the landing.  Lee invited me to come back and try another Madison lake, perhaps Monona.  If I can find a spare day this fall, I'd like to do that.

Any way, this is the end of the On the Road posts for awhile.  Back to "Home Page," where I'm trying to get caught up.

Later...
