I ordered a book I skimmed through at Barnes & Noble yesterday that really caught my attention. It made me feel....inspired. It's called "Love it, Don't Leave it." It's coming at a GREAT time for some things I've been going through at work....both to make me figure out how to get past the issues I have and to give me some different ideas for ways to look at things. A quick thing I read that I wanted to share was "The 5 Reasons People Stay":
- Exciting, challenging work.
- A chance to learn and grow.
- Great people to work with.
- Fair pay.
- A great boss
Part of the idea of the book is that we know we want the above things, but that we get stuck on wanting someone else to make them happen. Well, everyone else is probably waiting for someone to make those things happen for them rather than trying to figure out how to make you/me happy. Sometimes there are things that can be fixed or provided simply by asking for them. "If it's to be, it's up to me."
Lately when I've been getting frustrated, my single desire is to completely pass the buck...which doesn't fix a damn thang!
When the book comes in, I plan to prepare a plan of action for myself...that I'll share with the company President. I don't want to be in a run. I'm a worker...I like to work and be passionate about my work. Only I can work to make that happen. I think maybe this will only be a section for my "self marketing plan."
