eWeek has details of the next version of Enterprise Manager, due to be delivered as part of Oracle Application Server 10G.

Highlights include:

  • Single view of all enterprise databases
  • Dynamic HTML interface
  • Patch tracking for individual instances
  • Direct links within the interface to Metalink

As the Enterprise Manager website within 9iAS release 2 is somewhat different to the standard Enterprise Manager application for the database server, it's not clear whether this new version is the Oracle Enterprise Manager 4.0 announced earlier this year, or it applies it's a replacement for the apps server EMWebsite. You can already run the database Enterprise Manager applications through a web browser, although it's a bit of a hack, so it'd be good if this next version unifies the database and application server versions and delivers it as a proper dynamic HTML application.
