I am not totally sure what all the furor is over the Windows 2000 source that has been leaked to the net. Even if Microsoft kept its source code totally controlled and wasn't expanding access, that some or all of the source would get leaked and shared outside of Microsoft's control was inevitable.
It is also inevitable that XP source will be leaked -- just a question of time.
Slow news week I guess. This is a nothing story in my mind.
