Sony has announced a new high end point and shoot digital camera, the Cybershot DSC-R1. It has a large sensor (and likely significantly lower noise at higher ISO setting), 10.3 mega-pixels, f2.8 Carl Zeiss lens and a host of features that make it potentially a much better camera than the Panasonic FZ30 (including changeable lenses?). Two downers though -- no image stabilization (at least no mention in the material I have seen) and a MSRP of $999.95. A preliminary review of this camera is at www.dpreview.com.
