Keeping an Eye on Dave Winer

Talk about A-List. Dave Winer has a blog just as a personal attack on him. Jeez -- Dave can be opinionated, abrasive, impulsive, egotistical and sometimes childish but he also is often insightful, lucid and brilliant as well.

But to have his own personal blog stalker -- a blog whose whole purpose is to put him down -- in operation for almost a year. Now that is A-list.

I wonder who the person running the blog is anyway? What contributions has he/she made to society or computing(somehow he seems like the right pronoun)? I don't see anything regarding the true identity of the stalker.  Seems like he is just an anonymous bitter computer nerd sitting in the corner stalking Dave because there is nothing else in his life.

Apparently not Comment Spam

I have been getting sporadic postings lately at Courses by Wire's weblog of what I thought was comment spam. It turns out it is not comment spam per se but some sort of attempt by a bot to hijack what looks like email forms to use for spamming.

I am not sure what to do here. The forms in question are comment forms for the weblog. I am considering using Captcha techniques on the comment to fight the problem. That should at least prevent the bot from posting garbage comments when it passes (a huge annoyance since I have to spot and delete the garbage).

Can Williams survive?

Williams F1 certainly has been battered lately, losing the BMW engine, connection and sponsorship money with BMW buying Sauber, dealing with the ongoing Button driver fiasco, announcing a change to Bridgestone tires. This morning there is the announcement that HP will end sponsorship at the end of the season.

The once mighty team is already in the also ran class this year -- can they survive?
