What I find most bizarre about Dave Winer's post today: Why I will stop blogging, is the total lack of response to it. In the post Dave states that he will soon stop blogging because "I want some privacy, I want to matter less, so I can retool, and matter more, in different ways."
Dave is one of the outstanding personalities and thinkers in the blogging world (and beyond in the general computing world). I know him only from his writing and technical output (I have been following both for a number of years). But I do know enough about him to know that everybody has an opinion. Some love him, some hate him, some love and hate him at the same time. Even those that seem to hate him however have a grudging respect.
But there seems to be no response. No "Please don't go", no "Don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out", no "So long and thanks for the fish".
Just an eerie quiet.
