Now and then.
Imagine this conversation back in 1948....Your parents ask you what you did today...so you tell them...
I heated my instant breakfast in the microwave...got in my PT...adjusted
the auto mirrors...opened the garage door with the remote...took the
Interstate to work and set the cruise control on 70...stopped at
a self-serve gas station and paid $1.79 a gallon for gasoline...
Opened the employee parking gate with my security card...took the
moving sidewalk to the auto-open doors...walked thru the metal detector
and placed my thumb on the security panel for the elevator...told the
elevator I wanted to stop at the 87th floor...went to my office...
Booted the computer...down-loaded my laptop and checked my
e-mail...paid some bills by electronic check...checked E-bay and bid on
a few auctions...went to lunch in the food court...returned to the
office...called several clients on my cell phone..left several messages
on their answer machines...surfed the Web...clicked on a chat
room...picked up the remote and watched the war in real time in Iraq...
By then it was time to return home...stopped at the Maid-Rite for a hot dog and a root beer.
Their reply might have been..."At least you had a good dinner."
