What's In A Name?
Have you ever wondered about how common or unusual your name is?
Take a look at the Genealogy
page for the U. S. Census Bureau. It provides lists of all the first
names, male and female, and the last names, that appear in the 1990
census, ranked by order of frequency.
The most common female name is Mary, and the most common male name is
James. As you might expect, numbers 1 and 2 among the last names are
Smith and Johnson. Howarth is number 8290.
