Violence in Springfield Schools
Bob Owens alerted me to a story
running in the online Journal-Register about a rise in violent
incidents in Springfield's schools. Most of it is student-on-teacher
violence, and SHS has its share of these problems. Administrators
blame the trouble on budget cuts, which have taken away counseling
resources.
It's easy to say, "Why in our day, we wouldn't get away with that,"
which is true, but kids today face more problems, and have less family
support, than we did.
On the other hand, can you imagine anyone laying a hand on Willard Duey or Cliff Tozer? Not to mention Marquerite Zimmerman?
