Bush Makes Recess Appointment of Filibustered Judge [Feminist Daily News] Bypassing the constitutionally required review of the Senate, President Bush on Friday installed embattled right-wing judge Charles Pickering to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals as a recess appointment. Pickering will only serve on the Fifth Circuit until the end of the next Senate session in October unless he is confirmed by the Senate in the meantime. Senate Democrats had been maintaining a filibuster against Pickering, and they continue to filibuster several other nominees to the federal appeals courts. ... My comments: This just reminds me of how mad I am at Ralph Nader. Just imagine, for one moment, how different the past three years of politics and even life in general in the US and the world would have been if Al Gore had become president... I'm mad at Nader because I fell for his claim that "there's no difference" between Democrats and Republicansand now I think he couldn't have been more wrong. As women's rights, the environment, world peace, civil rights, and virtually everything else valuable have gone steadily down the drain the the past three years, the horrible irony of this untruth would be funny if it weren't so devestating. Democrats have many failings, but they have one vital thing going for themthey're not Republicans. Flush Bush in 2004!! P.S.
George W. Bush
is "a miserable failure on foreign
policy and on the economy and he's got to be replaced."
