Today David Heckerman and Nebojsa Jojic from MSR presented a paper on a collaborative research project with Jim Mullins and Simon Mallal on how some of the data-mining algorithms used to categorize and filter spam could be used to help design a vaccine for HIV. It's fascinating stuff.
