Stamp Out BS

I just received the latest Jim Pinto e-newsletter. He has an update about Rick Haythornthwaite finally leaving Invensys. It is a real shame what the lack of good management in London has done to a company with many good business units. I deal a lot with folks at Wonderware and Foxboro. These businesses are doing well, so it seems, but have been in danger of being dragged under by the boat anchor that existed at headquarters. Here's hoping for a corporate turnaround without the cop out of headcount reductions.

Jim also harangues about "bullshitting." I also get fed up with all the BS I see in society. I have mounted in a prominent place in my office a placque I received during my brief political life as an elected school board member. It has the international no symbol (the red circle with diagonal line) superimposed over the image of a bull squatting. It serves as a daily reminder to stick to the point.

I'll be taking in Jim's keynote at the SPS Electric Automation show and will be touring the show. Feel free to stop me and pass along tips or ideas about what Automation World should be covering or how we're doing.
