I'm in Austin, Texas today blogging live from NI Week. This is the 11th annual user conference for National Instruments, and as usual there is a lot of spirit and enthusiasm--not to mention new products.

Building on the newest PC bus, PCI Express, NI announced PXI Express, the instrumentation implementation of Compact PCI. This new technology development delivers speed increases of around 30x plus the ability for many channels operating simultaneously. This will enable test & measurement and automation applications such as streaming video and high channel count data acquisition.

As Dr. Trouchard commented during chats with editors, NI builds a platform for integrators and users to build applications on. The number and diversity of applications built on LabView and NI's hardware like CompactRIO built with FPGA just about boggles the mind--and the FPGA implementation is still in its infancy.

More to come tomorrow.
