Blogging live from the GE Fanuc users conference. It's early. Glen Graney got the unenviable task of kicking off the meetings at 7:20 am. It's the earliest keynote I've ever seen. Those GE people are early risers (but not necessarily early to bed, though). As he explained the "discover" theme for the week, his best quip related to Columbus as a discoverer. Seems he spent 8 years trying to find financing. He received it from the king and queen of Spain, who gave him a bunch of money and never really expected to see him again. "Kind of like an ERP investment."
Maryrose Sylvester gave the opening keynote. She has 20 years with GE but only 2 months with GE Fanuc. She is the fourth CEO here in my eight years as an editor. This post is evidently a good spot to learn some manufacturing basics as well as experience in joint ventures and international business.
What keeps us awake? Delivering the "perfect order." Regulatory demands, product quality, performance imporvement, product development and accountability rounded off her list. "Everyday is a race for us and it's the same for you."
The GE Value Proposition:
Optimize your operations
Drive results
Meet compliance requirements
Gain insight into your operations
Support your business
GE Fanuc is investing heavily in new products. Doubled the size of the technology team in key areas last year. GE Fanuc will grow through innovation and expanding product breadth
