A rising tide lifts all yachts

According to the Commerce Department's latest figures, the nation's gross domestic product grew at a 4.2% annual rate during the first three months of this year, an improvement over the fourth quarter of 2003. The Commerce Department's prime price index, a measure of inflation which excludes such luxuries as food and energy, rose 2.3%, compared with 1.5% in the fourth quarter.

In a report on the economy on NPR's All Things Considered today, Jim Zarroli interviewed a yacht dealer in Connecticut who said his business is now better than it's been in years.  This should be good news for the unemployed.  If they can't afford their own pleasure boats, at least they can apply for the growing number of deckhand positions.
