Trinity Site, July 16, 1945 [posted by Troy] Saturday marked 60 years since the first Atomic Weapon was detonated. Here is a part of an ABC news article about the anniversary:Scientists working at Trinity site as part of The Manhattan Project created the nuclear device used in the test on July 16, 1945. That successful detonation led to the construction of the two atomic bombs that killed hundreds of thousands of people in Japan in August 1945, essentially stunning Japan into surrender and ending World War II. Hiroshima survivors also marked the occasion. The 20th century is a conundrum of great achievements and horrific consequences.
