Depp Willy Wonka [posted by Troy] For the first time in quite a while, we took the time to go see a movie. We say Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (remake of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, both of which are both based on Roald Dahl's books). The movie was average to good, but Jonny Depp as Willy Wonka was great. I really think that Jonny Depp is one the great character actors of our time, or maybe just great actors. He is often in movies that are average to good, but not quite great. Yet, the characters that he creates are really amazing. Here are some of my favorites: Pirates of the Caribbean, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Donnie Brasco, Platoon, Edward Scissorhands. Depp has not gone the route of Matt Damen/Ben Affleck. [posted by Troy] We returned home yesterday night to find that a tranformer had blown in our building. ComEd was working on it, but the buildings only had partial power. That meant we had to hike up 15 flights of stairs to get home. It also meant that we didn't have AC for a good portion of the night. I couldn't use the Internet. Oh man, it was tough.
