Hi Everyone! In honor of us completing our last wedding related activity, I thought I would make Troy happy and log a post to our Blog, since I've been on a blogging sabatical. He'll be thrilled! Anyway, enjoy this photo of Troy working with me over the weekend to complete our wedding album.

I imagine this is what Troy looked like in his younger days, right?

Jordan's Dad's Favorite Opera [posted by Troy]
Did you know that the musical Rent was based on Puccini's opera La Boheme, written in the 1830s? Rent's story roughly follow's the story of La Boheme. Ever wonder why starving artists are called Bohemians? Well, this is part of the answer. The other part of the answer is Henri Murger's 1845 story collection Scenes de la Vie de Boheme from which Puccini drew his opera. It also appears that Thackery used this term in 1848 in Vanity Fair. Did you hear that Quad City libraries are offering free coffee? This sounds cool to me, but not everyone is pleased.
From LISNews

Offering coffee and allowing food and beverages in Quad City libraries is getting mixed reactions, according to the Quad Cities Online article. Cynthia Coe, Director of the East Moline Public Library commented,

We wanted to say thank you to our wonderful patrons. I think they really appreciate it. They like to come in the morning and have a cup of coffee and sit down with the newspaper.

But, a patron from the Moline Public Library, Candace Munoz sees it differently and worries about damage to the library: "This is for the public to come and read and use reference materials."

In 1957, Trader Vic's opened in Chicago. Today, Zwecker in the Sun-Times reported that Trader Vic's is closing after New Years Eve, but now there are reports that it will reopen in 2007. If you're not from Chicago, you won't care, but once in a while, we locals need a good Tiki bar.
