Da Vinci Code [posted by Troy] Tonight, over dinner with some friends, we were talking about the Da Vinci Code and Dan Brown. Our conversation reminded me of this 60 Minutes story about the research that supports some of the Da Vinci Code. Essentially, the Priory of Sion is a hoax. I have posted my concerns about how history is used in movies and fiction for the use of entertainment and how this impacts our understanding of reality. People want to believe in secret societies lurking in the background that are linked to ancient times, but there isn't much proof that these exist. How many Da Vinci Code fans have gone out to research what the historians say? What is Dan Brown's responsibility to use sound research in his fiction?
