Blink. Some people call it intuition. Some people call it making a snap judgement. Whatever it's called, it seems clear that the human mind has the capacity to reach correct decisions quickly on the basis of very little information. Well - decision, at any rate. Not always correct; it depends on the circumstances. The thing is, the same capacity that makes people suspicious of me because of my long hair is what lets doctors diagnose heart attacks on the spin of a dime. Anyhow, this item is a preview of a book about that phenomenon. I don't typically do book previews (so please don't start asking), but I liked the write-up. Via elearningpost. Sony PSP Phone Clone

psp_phoen.jpg imageLik-Sang has pictures and a little information about this new phone from Legend of China/Lenovo, which might look a little bit familiar to fans of Sony's upcoming PSP handheld gaming console. It's even using the button designs from the Playstation, which has to be a little bit something-infringing, but hey, it's China. If it isn't the size of the PSP, it might actually be worth importing through a grey marketer if possible. How cool would it be to have a half-sized PSP you could make phone calls on?

The news about this phone is a bit old, though¡Xanybody seen anything more of it since it was shown at the High-Tech Fair? (Thanks, Damiaan!)

Nvidia Provides Playstation 3 Graphics

nvidia_logo.jpg imageAlthough when it comes right down to it, whatever company wins the contract to provide the graphics silicon for Sony's Playstation 3 isn't that important to we end-users of the product, well, it's Nvidia. Rumors suggested that Nvidia hadn't finished its work on the original Xbox on good terms with Microsoft, which made the selection of ATI for the Xbox 2's video chipset unsurprising. However, it's arguably a much bigger deal for Nvidia to get a contract on the Playstation 3, if relative sales figures for the next generation consoles end up as disparate as they were in this generation, where the Playstation pretty much trounced everybody for the second time in a row.

Nvidia's been working on the chip for two years in secret. While it's certain that some nifty graphical tricks learned in the development of the new hardware will find their way to future Nvidia PC gaming products, don't take this news to signify in any way that Playstation 3 games will play on PCs with Nvidia hardware. Silly, I know, but people will ask.

Digital GE Portable Video System with Goggles

vr_digitalge.jpg imageAs much as I think virtual reality glasses are sort of silly and awkward, at least they have a reasonable chance of staying strapped to your dome. This Digital GE DG-TGVD300 from a Chinese company (Digital GE?) appears to hang from a pivot over your forehead and looks neither comfortable nor secure. You'll have to use it, though, if you want to take advantage of the Digital GE DG-THDAV6 portable video player when you're on the go¡Xthe player has no built-in screen.

Tired of PMPs with a dinky 3, 5 or even 7-inch screen? [DAPreview]
