ANOTHER REASON TO AVOID PRESCRIPTION DRUGS IF YOU POSSIBLY CAN...

PRESCRIPTION DRUG MISTAKES RISING AS THE SHEER VOLUME OF PRESCRIPTIONS WRITTEN GOES UP, UP, UP WITH NO END IN SIGHT.

The vast majority of prescriptions are filled correctly, and most errors don't cause serious harm. But the sheer volume of prescriptions dispensed annually--3 billion and rising, experts estimate--means that even a small error rate is troubling.

In a study published last year, researchers at Auburn University looked at about 4,500 prescriptions dispensed at 50 pharmacies around the country.

The study estimated that about 1.7 percent of prescriptions--or about 51 million of those dispensed annually--contain some type of error. About 3 million of those errors could potentially harm patients, the study suggests.

It's about time...
Anti-aging specialists suing detractors

They've been called quacks and embarrassments to the scientific community, doctors who use "pseudo-scientific mumbo jumbo" to persuade people to give them their money. Now, they're fighting back.
The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine and its Chicago founders, Drs. Robert Goldman and Ronald Klatz, are suing professors from the University of Illinois-Chicago and Harvard University, alleging they have trashed their reputations in an effort to discredit their anti-aging works.
