We're Back We're settling back in to home life after two weeks on the road. It was a good trip, and too much to tell here. Some highlights: in N.S., we went whale watching off Digby (saw tonnes of humpback whales, some very close to the boat), spent time looking for special rocks at Halls Harbour and Scott's Bay, had an amazing seafood feast at my brother Gary's place, went to the drive-in theatre (it hasn't changed one bit since I was a kid, except now you listen to the sound on your radio as opposed to the boxes that used to provide) and spent some time with my dear friend Ellen, who continues to be one of the sweetest people I have ever met.
In Vancouver, we had a great visit with Lucca and I met a wonderful artist named Nori who has M.S. and is bound to a wheelchair but still manages to produce the most amazing artwork.
CBC Woes My heart goes out to my CBC friends. Here's hoping this dispute will be settled soon, and in a way that you can live with.
Canada Summer Games Alan is now back from CSG. He had an amazing time, although they didn't get the results they were hoping for. They tied N.S., lost to Saskatchewan and Newfoundland, and beat Northwest Territories. Alan's coach said he played amazingly well, and if he wanted to he could go far in soccer (some of the N.S. coaches came up to him and praised him too) but Alan's problem is that his heart just isn't in it any more. This will be the last soccer he plays (at least for a while) although I'm hoping that he'll go back to it later on, if only for the exercise.
