FDA Outlaws Medicinal Mushroom Product
As I've been harping about the past few months, the FDA is quickly depriving us of our freedom to choose quality natural supplements and herbs over drugs for our health care. Lane Labs, makers of Skin Answer, Benefin and MGN-3 has been effectively closed down by government-backed lawsuits. This "cease and desist" has nothing to do with products that don't work, consumer complaints or illness/death caused by these supplements. Instead, the spurious reason given by the FDA is "unsubstantiated claims" of effectiveness.
Meanwhile, we received a desperate call from a lady yesterday looking for the discontinued MGN-3 mushroom product. It seems that her husband, who suffers from a type of bone/blood cancer, was doing quite well on this formula. When he could no longer obtain it, he relapsed. MGN-3 is no longer available, and if we had any remaining bottles in stock (we don't), it would be illegal for us to sell it.
There are other mushroom products that contain comparable potencies of Shiitake mushroom (the "magic" in MGN-3). My favorite formula is my own, Immune Support with Medicine Mushrooms. Mushroom Mycoceutics is another product that contains high-quality and potency medicinal mushrooms. Indeed, the product MGN-3 itself is replaceable with a substitute. My fear is that our swiftly-dwindling health freedoms are not.
