Another Herbal Medicine Vindicated!
Herbal extract as effective as widely-used anti-depressant
It seems that St. John's Wort, an herb that has been used for centuries and exhaustively studied, has received yet another positive review in yet another clinical study. Though this study shows that St. John's Wort is statistically more effective with fewer side effects than the synthetic drug Paxil, researchers are careful to temper their praise by saying that "In the treatment of moderate to severe major depression, (St. John's Wort extract) is at least as effective as paroxetine." Other researchers have been even more understated in their reports, but generally the least positive spin that they can put on St. John's Wort is to say that their comparison of St. John's Wort and Paxil or other similar antidepressants "found no difference at all." Translation? That is researcher-speak for "St. John's Wort, a traditional, natural, herbal remedy works just as well as our new-fangled drugs, and with better safety and fewer side effects to boot!"
Why not check out Dr. Myatt's informative discussion about Depression on our website - it's free and full of useful suggestions and tips. More information about Hypericum or (St. John’s Wort) can be found there as well.
So, got "the blues?" No need for fancy, dangerous, or expensive drugs - get happy with a safe, effective, natural, herbal alternative!
Cheers, Nurse Mark
