Hey Big Guy! Gonna Get Your PSA Checked? Great idea - but be aware...

Extra Weight Blurs PSA Scores

We have been voicing our concerns over and over about the dangers of excess weight for both men and women - many of those dangers are related to the hormonal changes that accompany overweight and obesity. This soon-to-be-published study affirms that there is every good reason for overweight men to find a way to loose the bulk and reduce the risk factors that accompany those extra pounds.

I encourage you to read the full article, but for those who are just too busy here are the "Cliff Notes:" Obesity causes PSA levels to be decreased. This is not (as you might think at first) a good thing. The researchers feel that this may be a artificial lowering, which could be "masking" and delaying diagnosis of prostate cancer. They suspect that this may be occurring because of lowered testosterone levels in obese men. Lowered testosterone and elevated female estrogen hormones are commonly found in overweight men. (This is the reason so many "Big Guys" have enlarged breasts...)

What can a "Big Guy" (or any guy) do? First, he MUST lose the extra weight - for every reason, including prostate health. For help in this, check out
The Myatt Diet - you really can lose weight and eat like a king at the same time! Then, he really should have a Male Hormone Profile done to determine the relative balances of the important sex hormones. Please visit our website where we discuss Man Health including valuable free tips and supplementation information. Once you are armed with the results of your Male Hormone Profile please consider an alternative medicine consultation with Dr. Myatt to sort out what the results mean and what you should be doing about it.

Cheers,
Nurse Mark
