Erroneous (and Deadly) Conclusions
Study: Diuretics a Net Plus for Elderly
The title of this article tries to put a positive spin on the use of diuretic drugs for the elderly but the conclusions prove it just isn't so!
The article alludes to the fact that there are some very serious side effects caused by commonly prescribed diuretics. By using these drugs to reduce blood pressure, doctors run the risk of causing other, equally serious problems such as diabetes, which by itself can lead to the complications of heart attack and stroke - the very problems that the doctors were trying to avoid in the first place with the diuretics!
Not mentioned in this article is that there are highly effective ways of reducing and controlling blood pressure that don't involve drugs at all.
Simple dietary changes, nutritional supplementation, and exercise can have near-miraculous effects in normalizing blood pressure, all without any need to resort to the toxic chemical offerings of the Pharmaceutical Industry. Please visit our website, and read more about this in our discussion of Hypertension. If you number among that "one-third of people over 60 [who] have both high blood pressure and diabetes" that the article refers to please also see our recommendations for Diabetes - and please also consider arranging an alternative medicine consultation with Dr. Myatt - she can help free you from the chemical shackles of prescription drugs!
Cheers, Nurse Mark
