It's finally getting a bit colder in Shanghai. On Thursday night I was walking along the Bund with a friend, and it was still so warm that we had to take off our coats (I was only wearing a shirt, not even a sweater). After that we had a drink at the terrace overlooking the river at 3 on the Bund, and then it suddenly got colder. The next morning I decided not to wear a coat, but that was a big mistake. Overnight temperatures had dropped dramatically, and my hands were freezing cold after walking outside for about 10 minutes. I remember that Beijing also had these sudden drops in temperature, normally because the direction of the wind changed (wind from the north (Siberia) meant very cold weather). In Holland temperatures normally don't change that drastically, I guess because most of the country is surrounded by the sea.

The switch from Windows to Mac did not go as smoothly as I hoped for. I found a program to upload my emails from Outlook to Entourage (Outlook2Mac), but only the sent items worked fine. For some reason it refused to copy my inbox. The worst thing however, was that the Apple store in Hong Kong where I bought my Powerbook forgot to install the Airport Extreme card. For non-Mac users, this is the wireless card to connect to the internet. Because both the SVP and China Bay offices only have wireless internet I could not use my Powerbook there. The Apple shop (The Designergroup, supposedly the best in HK) would send me one, but when I called them again after one week because I still had not received the card, they said they had not sent it out yet. A friend of mine now picked it up, and I will finally get it today. Pretty bad service. So today I will really start to use the Powerbook. I therefore just installed Userland, that went very well. This is actually the first post from my Apple, so I hope it does appear on the website!
