Podcasting startups start to see green. . .
Om Malik (http://gigaom.com/) and Dave Winer (www.scripting.com) are both reporting that Podshow www.podshow.com and Odeo www.odeo.com are receiving outside investments. This makes sense given the VC climate that I keep hearing about (too much money chasing too little opportunity).
Podcasting Statistics. . .lies and damn lies. . .
Dave Slusher over at Evil Genius Chronicles http://www.evilgeniuschronicles.org/wordpress/2005/08/09/itunes-podcasting-screws-up-yet-another-simple-thing/ at first comments about how the iTunes statistics system can be "gamed" (aka easily manipulated… original story: http://plastictrees.typepad.com/plastictreesnet_a_call_fo/2005/08/itunes_podcast_.html). He then goes on to say he's giving up caring about numerical ranking systems at all.
From my perspective podcast ranking and stats has always been wildly imprecise and I applaud Dave's determination to provide value for his listeners regardless of how many there are.
Podcast of the day. . .
The HearNoEvil podcast
James Bellew, Philip Greenwood and others talk about audio production, software, hardware and generally how to make yourself sound good.
