Radio. . .is the primary source of news, music and compelling audio. . .huh?

The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) has launched the largest radio promotional campaign ever, marketing radio as "the primary source for news, music and compelling audio entertainment." Virtually every major radio group, including ABC, Clear Channel, Cox, Greater Media, Infinity and Radio One, is planning on airing the advertisements aggressively. According to the NAB, the industry plans on spending $28 million and using endorsements from major music artists.

In the coming months, this marketing campaign will be hard to avoid on traditional radio.

How can I not respond to that!?!

I've been podcasting since October of 2004.  As the 12th or 13th podcaster on the planet I've seen podcasting grow from 12 people to (according to http://www.podcastalley.com ) over 13000 podcasts.

When someone speaks it's compelling to someone else or they wouldn't continue to do it.  End of story!

Go to Stanford. . .at least listen like you go to Stanford and save your self $32,000 a year!

Stanford University now provides alumni—as well as the general public—with a new and versatile way of staying connected to the university through downloads of faculty lectures, campus events, performances, book readings, music recorded by Stanford students and even podcasts of Stanford football games. At launch, the service will contain close to 400 distinct audio programs, and the university will continue to add new content as it becomes available

Podcast of the day. . .

Autism Tales

http://driveforrebecca.blogspot.com/

Autism Tales is a free podcast presented by The Drive for Rebecca. The Drive for Rebecca is an ongoing effort to raise funds for autism research and to help establish new schools.

This, in my humble opinion, is the kind of podcast, while it may only appeal to a limited audience but represents the best kind of outcome for individual creative media. . .connection between people who share a common challenge.

And that's your Manic Minute for January 25th, 2006!
