Tower Records Gives Away The Store. . .
Tower Records is planning a major podcast initiative, TowerPod, to be announced at the upcoming SXSW Festival, March 10-19 according to Forbes magazine (http://www.forbes.com/digitalentertainment/2006/03/02/podcast-tower-apple-cz_ph_0302Tower.html?partner=rss)
TowerPod will let visitors create their own podcasts using a catalog of 6,000 songs, which Tower will provide free of charge.
All of the artists have joined the Independent Online Distribution Alliance including hip-hop group Blackalicious and Peter Frampton.
Cell phone companies actually listening?
There's an article in the New York Times from yesterday (http://www.nytimes.com/2006/03/04/technology/04service.html?ex=1299128400&en=5b71cd150a5bd40b&ei=5090&partner=rssuserland&emc=rss)
that details how cell phone customers are bouncing from one provider to another as they get pissed off. Everything from bad reception to inept customer service drives this. Yours truly has moved three times in the past three years.
