The far north of Rayburn Country wants to secede from the association, according to homeowner Mike Cubbage, who held a meeting of disgruntled residents from the E-4 section.

A year to the day after a devastating fire that razed an 18-unit condominium to the ground at Cedar Shores, residents are still waiting for the association board to make a decision to rebuild their former home.

Can you imagine living a full year without a place to call home? In the meantime paying homeowner's association dues for a place that no longer exists?

No law requires people to get along with their neighbors. People who live in planned community associations, such as apartments and condominiums, know this first-hand, according to an attorney representing community associations statewide.

So just when the gate was about to go up, they blocked that move and filed a lawsuit against the homeowners, claiming the gate poses a safety hazard. The gate has since been installed, but it stands idly, not to be used until, or unless, the courts say so.
