Pinellas county officials have conceded they were acting unlawfully when they neglected to contact more than 900 time-share owners of a Pass-a-Grille condominium before they auctioned it off in a tax deed sale in November, according to court documents.

And, yes, America's a democracy. You have every right to move into a non-HOA neighborhood. But some wise person once said, "Your right to swing your arm ends where it hits your neighbor." There's a difference between "communism" and "compromise.

As president of the homeowners association that governs it, he says most of the rules are set to maintain order and aesthetics. It's a big community, so people aren't always going to be happy with the rules. But the system works most of the time, and it's a good tradeoff, given the perks residents get, such as ballfields and frequent garbage pickup.

In San Diego's downtown, names are getting more and more creative as developers strive for a sense of identity in the condo jungle: Alicante, Atria, Aperture. There are about 79 condominium complexes downtown, 30 more under construction and 56 in planning stages.
